Fall semester has arrived at UMD, although these sunny days make it seem more like summer. Are you constantly looking out the window, wishing you were outside? One easy way to enjoy the fresh air is to bike to school! Leave your car in the garage and hop on the trusty two-wheeler. Not only do you get to soak up some rays before class or work, you are saving money, getting exercise, and reducing your carbon footprint.
Worried that you might be late for class if you bike? Plan ahead with this map, detailing the estimated length of commutes from around Duluth to UMD for both biking and walking. The map was created last spring by UMD students in Dr. David Syring's Senior Anthropology Seminar.
Once you get to campus, find out where to park your bike with this map. The map shows which racks are seasonal (April-October) and which are available year-round. As an alternative to bike racks, UMD also offers bicycle storage lockers for rent.
There are also some rules and regulations you should be familiar with before biking on campus. (Print a brochure with the bicycle parking map and regulations here).
Before the cold Duluth winter hits, make the most of these beautiful days- arrive at UMD in style on your bicycle.
